What are the benefits of asphalt paving?

Asphalt is far less expensive than concrete and interlocking pavers. It is easier to install and maintain. If dealing with a strict budget asphalt driveways will allow you to get a better bang for your buck. For the most part, with proper installation on our end and occasional maintenance on yours, you can expect your asphalt driveway to last quite a while before having to replace it.How long before I can use my new asphalt driveway?Asphalt drying time is partially dependent on the weather. Extreme heat can delay the drying process. Sometimes using a regular water hose spraying it with water can help. Never use a power washer to spray the driveway. During spring and fall 48 hours is enough to start using your driveway. On very hot summer days it is recommended to wait 5 to 7 days. Refrain from turning the tires when stopped or parked until the asphalt has had time to harden. It takes about 9 months for new asphalt to cure properly.Can I pave over concrete?It is possible to pave over concrete, but it is not recommended. Reflective cracking is likely to occur as a result. This will typically occur along all the construction joints in the concrete or where the concrete has already cracked. This is due to expansion or contraction of the old concrete surface which then causes the asphalt above to crack as the concrete moves.How soon do you seal a new asphalt driveway?It is recommended to wait one year. If you seal your driveway before it is completely cured you run the risk of sealing in the oils that make the asphalt flexible. Asphalt needs a minimum of six months for the oils in it to evaporate. When applying a high-quality coal tar-based sealer the temperature should be above 10 degrees but not more than 32 degrees for good adhesion. During rainy season you will need at least a two days without rain after you put the sealant down.How much will the project cost?Although most driveways look the same, no two driveways are identical when it comes to repair and replacement. For this reason it is best to have an estimator come out and examine the job at hand. The good news is this process is absolutely free to the property owner. Unless there are specific requirements, such as an extension or other services to be included, this can be done without any other individuals having to be on site.
